Our team at WSSHomeplate, the Baseball-focused affiliate of WSSArizona, has unveiled their picks for the 2nd End-of-Year Awards for AZHS Baseball. All 6 of the selected award-winners earned their selection based off of their in-season stats, in addition to their overall contribution to their team.

Most Valuable Player: ’26 RHP/1B Kellan Tom (Corona Del Sol)

Leading the way is Corona del Sol’s Kellan Tom, who earned WSSArizona Most Valuable Player honors after starring for the Aztecs during one of the most memorable seasons in program history.
Tom was a force on both sides of the ball, hitting .440 with 10 home runs, 43 RBIs, a .860 slugging percentage, and a 1.356 OPS. Tom also contributed with 67.1 innings on the mound which included 68 strikeouts and only 48 hits allowed on the season.
Tom’s best performance of the season at the plate was during a 14-3 rout of Brophy Prep on May 5th. He smashed two home runs and a single to go along with 4 RBIs on 4 plate appearances.
Though the Aztecs ultimately came up short at the end of the season, his impact helped fuel Corona del Sol’s run to the 6A State Championship, cementing his place as one of Arizona’s most complete players in 2026.
Cy Young Award: ’26 LHP Tommy Pascanu (O’Connor)

The Cy Young Award (Best Pitcher) went to O’Connor ace Tommy Pascanu, who delivered one of the most dominant pitching campaigns in the state.
Pascanu finished the season with a 1.15 ERA, a perfect 10 – 0 record, and 98 strikeouts across 67 innings pitched. The UofA commit allowed just 11 earned runs in his 67 innings pitched.
The senior had 4 games with 10+ strikeouts, with his best performance coming on April 23rd vs. Mountain Ridge where he pitched 7 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out 13 and allowing 0 runs in a 7-0 win.
The Eagles’ standout consistently shut down opposing lineups and established himself as one of Arizona’s premier arms.
Silver Slugger Award (Best Hitter): ’27 Will Parker (Desert Ridge)

Desert Ridge slugger Will Parker captured the Silver Slugger Award after putting together a remarkable offensive season.
Parker hit .426 with 10 home runs, 37 RBIs, an .851 slugging percentage, and a 1.351 OPS, proving to be one of the most dangerous hitters in Arizona baseball throughout the spring.
The Desert Ridge junior had 14 games with 2 or more hits. He profiles as one of the state’s best sluggers heading into 2026-2027.
Gold Glove Award (Best Fielder): ’28 Peyton Burgess (Millennium)

Millennium’s Peyton Burgess earned Gold Glove honors after a flawless defensive season.
Burgess finished with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, recording 176 putouts and 179 total chances without committing an error. His consistency and reliability made him one of the state’s elite defenders.
Freshman of the Year: ’29 Bostyn Dart (Canyon Del Oro)

Canyon del Oro freshman Bostyn Dart was named Freshman of the Year after making an immediate impact at the varsity level for a CDO team that once again made a deep run into the 4A Conference playoffs.
Dart hit .319 with 21 RBIs while posting a .405 on-base percentage and .933 fielding percentage, showcasing the talent that should make him one of Arizona’s top players for years to come.
Coach of the Year: Mike Woods (Hamilton)

Hamilton head coach Mike Woods received Coach of the Year recognition after guiding the Huskies to a 22 – 10 record and the program’s 10th state championship.
Hamilton’s title run added another chapter to one of Arizona’s most successful baseball programs and further strengthened Woods’ legacy within the state’s coaching ranks.
Woods goes out with a championship in his 27th and final year of being in the dugout for Hamilton. He announced his retirement in Late-May.
The 2026 season featured no shortage of standout performances, but these six individuals separated themselves through sustained excellence, leadership, and impact on winning. As the page turns toward 2027, Arizona baseball once again appears loaded with talent, setting the stage for another highly anticipated spring season.
