PHOENIX, AZ – The 6A Mesa Jackrabbits bounced back after starting 0-1 after last second, 31-28, victory at O’Connor.

In an intense, back and forth offensive battle, Mesa’s big second quarter and clutch plays throughout the fourth quarter brought them to victory.

Although the Eagles lost, the rushing offense was efficient with 2 different rushers with over 60 yards and 167 as a team. But, their air attack lacked consistency as they had ‘29 QB Arnel Ahmetovic and 27’ QB Brodie Moore split snaps and drives throughout the game. They totaled for just 75 yards on 16 attempts with Moore never really getting it going in the air. Ahmetovic posted a 122 rating and threw 6 for 9.

The rushing efficiency came from ‘27 RB Jeremy Adeyanju and ‘29 RB/SB Colton Fahndrich combining for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 24 attempts. Adeyanju’s 2 touchdowns led the scoring for the Eagles as the team consistently scored 7 points a quarter. ‘28 WR/QB Braylon Lopez had a massive impact on both sides of the ball, scoring a 25 yard receiving touchdown and grabbing an interception as well.

What took the Jackrabbits over the top was their duo of brothers. ‘27 WR/DB Kingston Anetema and ‘27 QB Kane Anetema dominated the game with Kane passing for 231 yards and 3 touchdowns and Kingston had 144 yards with 10 receptions along with a pair of touchdowns.

On the ground, ‘27 HB/DB Lance Briggs Jr was incredibly efficient, leading the team with 77 yards in just 7 attempts to pair with a touchdown of his own.

The game was anyone’s to take up until the very final seconds. In a game with over 3 lead changes, the ending was put into the hands of ‘29 Kicker Cage Moore after a short drive down the field by the Jackrabbits offense. With his first career field goal attempt, he was tasked to kick a 47 yard field goal to win the game. As time expired, his kick just made it and the Jackrabbits were able to take the game, putting up 10 in the fourth quarter.
